General Questions

01What types of pallets do you accept for recycling?+

We accept virtually all standard wood pallets regardless of size, condition, or grade. This includes GMA 48x40 pallets, 42x42, 48x48, 48x45, and custom sizes. We also accept broken, damaged, and non-repairable pallets — these are dismantled and the lumber is reclaimed for other uses or ground into mulch and biomass fuel. The only pallets we cannot accept are those contaminated with hazardous chemicals, treated with creosote, or infested with active pest populations. If you are unsure whether your pallets qualify, contact us and our team will help you determine the best disposal option.

02How does your pallet recycling process work?+

Our recycling process follows a five-step workflow designed for maximum resource recovery. First, we collect pallets from your location using our fleet of flatbed trucks. Second, every pallet is individually inspected and sorted by size, condition, and grade. Third, pallets in good condition are cleaned and prepared for direct resale. Fourth, damaged but repairable pallets go to our repair line where skilled technicians replace broken boards and reinforce stringers to meet NWPCA standards. Fifth, pallets beyond repair are dismantled — usable lumber is reclaimed for new pallet construction, and the remainder is processed into mulch, animal bedding, or biomass fuel. Our goal is zero waste: nothing from our facility goes to the landfill.

03What is the difference between stringer and block pallets?+

Stringer pallets use two or three parallel boards (stringers) running along the length of the pallet to support the deck boards. They are the most common type in North America, used for about 85% of all pallets. Stringer pallets can be 2-way entry (forklift access from two sides only) or 4-way entry (when stringers are notched). The standard GMA 48x40 pallet is a notched stringer pallet. Block pallets use nine blocks (small cubes of solid wood or composite material) positioned at the corners, sides, and center to support the deck boards and stringer boards. They provide true 4-way entry without notching, making them stronger and more compatible with automated material handling equipment. Block pallets are standard in Europe (EPAL/EUR pallets) and are used by PECO in North America. They cost more to manufacture but offer better racking performance and longer service life.

04What is your service area?+

Our primary service area covers the entire greater Phoenix metropolitan area, including Goodyear, Avondale, Buckeye, Litchfield Park, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, and surrounding communities. We also serve the broader Arizona region including Tucson, Flagstaff, Prescott, Yuma, and other cities throughout the state. For locations outside the Phoenix metro area, minimum quantities and delivery fees may vary. We regularly work with businesses across the entire state and can arrange special logistics for large orders regardless of location. Contact us with your specific location and we will provide a delivery quote.

05Do you handle plastic pallets as well as wood?+

Yes, we buy and sell plastic pallets in addition to wood pallets. We carry HDPE (high-density polyethylene) and polypropylene pallets in standard sizes. Plastic pallets are ideal for food and pharmaceutical industries because they are easy to sanitize, resistant to moisture and chemicals, and do not harbor pests. They are also exempt from ISPM-15 heat treatment requirements for international shipping. We accept used plastic pallets for recycling and resale, and we maintain an inventory of popular plastic pallet models from manufacturers including Orbis, Rehrig Pacific, and Schoeller Allibert.

6 Questions

Pricing Questions

09How much do recycled pallets cost compared to new ones?+

Recycled pallets typically cost 40-60% less than new pallets of equivalent size and load capacity. For example, a new GMA 48x40 pallet might cost $12-18 depending on lumber prices, while a Grade A recycled pallet of the same size ranges from $5-8, and Grade B pallets run $3.50-6. The exact pricing depends on current lumber market conditions, the specific size you need, the grade quality, and your order volume. We offer volume discounts for orders of 500+ pallets and can set up recurring delivery schedules with locked-in pricing for high-volume customers. Contact us for a customized quote based on your specific requirements.

10Will you buy my used pallets?+

Yes, we actively buy used pallets of all sizes and conditions. We purchase pallets on a per-unit basis with pricing that reflects the size, grade, and current market conditions. Grade A pallets in standard sizes command the highest prices, while damaged or non-standard pallets are priced based on their recoverable material value. We pay competitive rates and offer same-day payment for walk-in sellers at our Goodyear facility. For businesses with regular surplus, we can set up standing purchase agreements with pre-negotiated pricing and scheduled pickups. This is an excellent way to turn pallet waste into revenue rather than paying disposal fees. Contact us for current buy-back pricing on your specific pallet types and quantities.

11Do you offer volume discounts?+

Yes, we provide tiered volume pricing across all our products and services. Orders of 100-499 pallets receive our standard pricing, 500-999 pallets qualify for our mid-volume discount (typically 5-10% off standard), and orders of 1,000+ pallets receive our best pricing with discounts of 10-20% depending on the product. For customers who establish recurring delivery agreements with monthly minimums, we offer additional pricing benefits and can lock in rates for up to 6 months to protect against lumber price fluctuations. Your dedicated account manager can structure a pricing plan that matches your volume and delivery schedule.

12Are there any hidden fees I should know about?+

No, we believe in fully transparent pricing. The quoted price per pallet includes the pallet itself and standard quality inspection. Delivery fees are quoted separately and based on distance, with free delivery available for orders over a certain size within the Phoenix metro area. The only additional charges that might apply are for expedited same-day delivery requests, heat treatment services (if not already included in the pallet type), and custom specifications beyond standard sizes. We always provide a complete, itemized quote before any work begins, so you know exactly what you are paying.

13How do lumber prices affect pallet pricing?+

Lumber commodity prices directly impact both new and recycled pallet pricing, though recycled pallets are somewhat insulated from price spikes. When lumber prices rise (as they did dramatically in 2021-2022), new pallet prices can increase by 30-50%, while recycled pallet prices typically increase by only 10-20%. This is because recycled pallets use existing materials rather than new lumber. We monitor the lumber futures market daily and adjust our pricing gradually to maintain competitive rates. For customers with price sensitivity, we recommend locking in rates through a standing purchase agreement during periods of market stability.

14Do you charge for pallet pickup and recycling?+

In most cases, no. For businesses with 50 or more pallets in standard sizes and reasonable condition, we provide free pickup as part of our recycling service. The pallets themselves have value that covers our transportation costs. For very small quantities (under 50 pallets), we may charge a nominal pickup fee or suggest that you accumulate a larger quantity before scheduling a collection. For pallets that are heavily damaged, non-standard sizes, or contaminated, there may be a processing fee. We always discuss any potential charges upfront before scheduling a pickup.

6 Questions

Recycling Process Questions

15What happens to pallets that cannot be repaired?+

Pallets that are beyond economical repair are never wasted. We practice what we call total material recovery. First, the pallet is dismantled and any reusable boards or stringers are salvaged for use in repairing other pallets. This alone recovers about 40-60% of the material. The remaining wood is processed through our industrial grinder to produce several valuable byproducts: landscaping mulch (sold to nurseries and landscaping companies), animal bedding (popular with equestrian facilities and farms), biomass fuel (sold to energy producers for renewable electricity generation), and wood fiber for composite manufacturing. Even the nails and metal fasteners are collected and recycled. Our zero-waste commitment means that 100% of every pallet entering our facility is put to productive use.

16How do you ensure quality in recycled pallets?+

Quality control is built into every stage of our operation. Incoming pallets are inspected individually by trained graders who assess structural integrity, board condition, stringer quality, fastener security, and contamination. Each pallet is sorted into the appropriate grade category. During repair, our technicians follow NWPCA repair standards — replacement boards must match or exceed original thickness, proper pallet nails are used at every joint, and stringer repairs are limited to ensure structural integrity. After repair, every pallet undergoes a final quality check before entering our sales inventory. We maintain detailed records of our inspection and grading criteria, and we welcome customer facility audits. Our quality guarantee means that if any pallet fails to meet the stated grade specifications, we replace it at no charge.

17Can I request a specific wood species for my pallets?+

For new and custom-built pallets, yes — we can source specific wood species including Southern Yellow Pine, oak, maple, and other hardwoods or softwoods based on your requirements. Hardwoods provide greater strength and durability but are heavier and more expensive. Softwoods are lighter and more cost-effective but may not support the same load capacities. For recycled pallets, we sort by species when possible, but most recycled inventory is mixed hardwood or mixed species. If your application requires a specific species (for example, pharmaceutical or food packaging that restricts certain wood types), discuss this with our sales team and we will find the right solution.

18What is the typical turnaround time for pallet processing?+

From the moment pallets arrive at our facility, the processing timeline depends on the service requested. Standard sorting and grading takes 1-2 business days. Repair of damaged pallets typically adds 2-3 business days. Heat treatment requires 1-2 additional business days. A full processing cycle from pickup to delivery-ready inventory averages 5-7 business days. However, for recurring customers with pallet management agreements, we maintain pre-processed inventory specifically allocated for their orders, enabling same-day or next-day fulfillment of standard recycled pallets.

19Do you track the environmental impact of pallets you recycle?+

Yes, we maintain detailed metrics on our environmental impact and can provide reporting for your sustainability programs. For every pallet we process, we track the amount of wood diverted from landfills, the estimated CO2 emissions prevented, the water saved compared to new pallet production, and the number of trees preserved. We can provide monthly or quarterly sustainability reports for customers who need this data for corporate social responsibility (CSR) reporting, ESG disclosures, or sustainability certifications. Use our online sustainability calculator to estimate your environmental impact, or contact us for a custom report.

20How do you handle pallets with markings from other companies?+

Pallets bearing CHEP (blue), PECO (red), or other pooling company markings are handled separately. These pallets remain the property of their respective pooling companies and cannot be resold, repaired, or scrapped by third parties. When we receive pooled pallets, we set them aside and coordinate returns to the appropriate company. We do not charge for this service when the pooled pallets arrive as part of a larger recycling pickup. For pallets with generic company logos, names, or inventory markings, we can sand, paint over, or remove markings upon request for an additional per-pallet fee. This is common for customers who do not want to distribute pallets bearing a competitor brand.

5 Questions

Quality Questions

21What pallet grades do you offer for sale?+

We offer four primary grades of recycled pallets. Grade A (Premium/Like New) pallets have no broken boards, no staining, and intact stringers — they are suitable for automated systems and export. Grade B (Standard) pallets may have minor cosmetic imperfections or one repaired board but are fully functional for standard warehouse operations. Grade C (Economy) pallets show visible wear and may have multiple repairs but are structurally sound, ideal for one-way shipping. We also offer Combo/Mixed Grade lots at the best pricing for customers where cosmetic quality is less important. Each grade is inspected against NWPCA standards before sale. Visit our products page for detailed specifications and current pricing on each grade.

22Are your recycled pallets safe for food products?+

Yes, our recycled pallets intended for food use undergo additional inspection and processing. We maintain strict separation between food-grade and general-purpose pallets throughout our facility. Food-grade pallets are inspected for any chemical contamination, strong odors, mold, or pest evidence. They are cleaned and, if requested, heat-treated to eliminate any biological contaminants. We do not recycle pallets that have been used for chemicals, pesticides, or other hazardous materials into the food-grade supply chain. For food and pharmaceutical applications, we recommend Grade A recycled pallets or new pallets built from kiln-dried lumber. We can also supply plastic pallets that are FDA-compliant and easily sanitized for the most demanding food safety requirements.

23What is your quality guarantee or return policy?+

We stand behind every pallet we sell with a straightforward quality guarantee. If any pallet does not meet the stated grade specifications upon delivery, we will replace it at no charge or issue a credit to your account. To make a claim, simply notify us within 5 business days of delivery and set aside the pallets in question for inspection. Our team will arrange pickup of the non-conforming pallets and deliver replacements. For customers with ongoing pallet management agreements, quality reviews are conducted monthly to ensure consistent standards are being met. We maintain a defect rate below 2% across all grades, and we continuously train our grading team to maintain this standard.

24How do you prevent pest contamination in recycled pallets?+

Pest prevention is a multi-step process at our facility. All incoming pallets are visually inspected for evidence of insect activity including bore holes, sawdust trails, and live insects. Pallets showing any pest evidence are immediately quarantined and either heat-treated or destroyed depending on the severity. Our storage areas are maintained with pest control protocols, and we conduct regular perimeter treatments to prevent insect migration into our pallet inventory. For export pallets, our ISPM-15 heat treatment process eliminates all insects, larvae, and eggs by raising the wood core temperature to 56 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes. We recommend heat treatment for any customer concerned about pest issues, even for domestic shipments.

25Can you match a specific pallet specification provided by my customer?+

Absolutely. Many of our customers receive detailed pallet specifications from their downstream customers or retail partners (such as Walmart, Amazon, or Costco compliance requirements). Provide us with the specification document and we will match it precisely. This includes specific dimensions, board counts, board thicknesses, wood species, fastener types, treatment requirements, and even marking or branding requirements. We maintain specification files for major retailers and can advise you on which grade or product meets their requirements. For unusual specifications, we will produce a sample pallet for your approval before fulfilling the full order.

Delivery Questions

26Do you offer pickup and delivery services?+

Yes, we provide full pickup and delivery services throughout the greater Phoenix metropolitan area and across Arizona. Our fleet includes flatbed trucks, enclosed trailers, and semi-trucks capable of handling loads from 50 pallets to full truckloads of 500+ pallets. For recycling pickups, we can schedule one-time collections or set up recurring weekly, biweekly, or monthly pickups based on your accumulation rate. Delivery of purchased pallets is typically same-day or next-business-day within the Phoenix metro area. For locations outside the metro area, delivery is generally within 2-3 business days. Rush and same-day delivery options are available for an additional fee.

27What are your minimum quantity requirements?+

For pallet pickup and recycling services, our minimum is 50 pallets per load. This ensures efficient use of our transportation fleet and keeps per-pallet costs low for our customers. For pallet purchases (buying recycled pallets from us), our minimum order is 20 pallets for local delivery or 50 pallets for delivery beyond the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. If you have fewer than 50 pallets for recycling, we recommend accumulating them over time or coordinating with neighboring businesses. We can also discuss shared pickup schedules for smaller quantities at regular intervals.

28How quickly can you fulfill a large pallet order?+

Our turnaround time depends on the size and specifications of your order. For standard recycled GMA 48x40 pallets in Grade A or B, we maintain large inventories and can typically fulfill orders of up to 1,000 pallets within 24-48 hours. For larger orders (1,000-5,000 pallets), expect 3-5 business days. Orders exceeding 5,000 pallets or requiring specific non-standard sizes may take 5-10 business days depending on current inventory and production capacity. Heat-treated pallets add 1-2 business days for treatment and stamping. Custom-built pallets require 3-5 business days after design approval. We strongly recommend establishing a recurring delivery schedule for predictable supply — this ensures we always have your specific pallets ready when you need them.

29Do you deliver outside of Arizona?+

While our primary service area is Arizona, we can arrange deliveries to neighboring states including California, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado for large orders (typically 500+ pallets). For these out-of-state deliveries, we work with partner freight carriers to provide competitive shipping rates. Full truckload orders (typically 400-600 pallets depending on size) are the most cost-effective for long-distance delivery. We also ship nationwide via common carrier for specialty items such as heat-treated export pallets or custom-built pallets. Contact us with your destination and quantity for a shipping quote.

30Can I pick up pallets directly from your facility?+

Yes, walk-in pickups are welcome at our Goodyear facility during regular business hours (Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM). If you have a truck or trailer, you can load pallets on-site. For smaller quantities that fit in a pickup truck bed, no appointment is necessary. For larger loads that require forklift loading, we ask that you call ahead so we can have your order staged and a forklift operator available. Walk-in customers also benefit from our best pricing since there are no delivery fees. We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards for walk-in purchases.

5 Questions

Environmental Questions

31What are the environmental benefits of pallet recycling?+

Pallet recycling delivers significant environmental benefits across multiple dimensions. Each recycled pallet saves approximately 3.5 board feet of lumber, which translates to roughly 0.0054 trees per pallet. Over a year, a business recycling 500 pallets per month prevents approximately 162,000 pounds of CO2 emissions, diverts 300,000 pounds of waste from landfills, and saves over 22,800 gallons of water that would have been used in new lumber processing. On a broader scale, the pallet recycling industry prevents over 300 million pallets from reaching U.S. landfills annually, saving an estimated 1.5 billion board feet of lumber per year. Use our sustainability impact calculator to see the specific environmental savings for your operation.

32Do you offer pallet management programs for warehouses?+

Yes, our pallet management program is designed for warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities that need a comprehensive, hands-off solution. The program includes scheduled pickup of empty and damaged pallets, on-site sorting and grading, repair of salvageable pallets, replacement of non-repairable pallets with recycled equivalents, delivery of required quantities on a set schedule, monthly reporting on pallet volumes, condition trends, and cost analysis, and a dedicated account manager. This program typically reduces pallet-related costs by 25-40% compared to purchasing new pallets. It also eliminates the labor and space required for in-house pallet management. Programs are customized to your volume, schedule, and quality requirements. Visit our pallet management services page or contact us for a no-obligation assessment of your current pallet operation.

33Do you provide heat-treated (ISPM-15) pallets for international shipping?+

Absolutely. We maintain ISPM-15 certification and operate heat treatment chambers at our Goodyear facility. All heat-treated pallets are processed to the required core temperature of 56 degrees Celsius (132.8 degrees Fahrenheit) for a minimum of 30 consecutive minutes, as mandated by the International Plant Protection Convention. Each treated pallet receives the official ISPM-15 stamp mark with our facility registration number, the HT designation, and the IPPC logo. We can heat-treat pallets you already own or supply new/recycled heat-treated pallets ready for export. Turnaround time for heat treatment service is typically 1-2 business days. See our detailed guide on heat treatment standards for more information.

34How does pallet recycling compare to using new pallets for carbon footprint?+

Using recycled pallets significantly reduces your carbon footprint compared to purchasing new pallets. Manufacturing a new wood pallet generates approximately 27 pounds of CO2 equivalent emissions through harvesting, milling, kiln drying, transportation, and assembly. Processing a recycled pallet generates only about 4 pounds of CO2 equivalent — an 85% reduction per pallet. For a business using 1,000 pallets per month, switching from new to recycled pallets prevents approximately 276,000 pounds (138 tons) of CO2 emissions annually. This is equivalent to taking approximately 30 passenger cars off the road. These figures can be included in your company sustainability reports and ESG disclosures.

35Can you build custom-sized pallets?+

Yes, we build custom pallets to any specification. Whether you need non-standard dimensions, specific board configurations, particular wood species, or specialized features like heat treatment, chamfered edges, or notched stringers, our manufacturing team can design and produce pallets tailored to your exact requirements. Custom orders start at a minimum of 25 pallets. We begin with a consultation to understand your load requirements, handling methods, storage conditions, and any regulatory requirements. Our team then produces a specification sheet and quote. Lead time for custom orders is typically 3-5 business days after approval. Visit our custom pallets page or contact us to discuss your project.
